Huge WWE plans within the works for Shawn Michaels

WWE has been making several cinematic projects lately, with Unreal releasing its second season on Netflix in January 2026. Now, the Stamford-based promotion is working on a new project, which will soon be released and will be based on Shawn Michaels.

According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a new documentary on the former three-time WWE Champion and one-time World Heavyweight Champion is in the works.

The project has a full-length feature on HBK, and the documentary will also carry the interviews of several of his allies and rivals. The report didn’t mention a specific or tentative release date for the documentary. However, the Stamford-based promotion is likely to release it around the 30th anniversary of his pro wrestling career.

Michaels is one of the most prominent figures of the Attitude Era and the 2010s. Rightly named Mr. WrestleMania, he currently oversees the creative direction of the NXT division of WWE.

Shawn Michaels talks about his WWE Royal Rumble memories

Ahead of this year’s Royal Rumble, the Stamford-based promotion had released an interview with Shawn Michaels, where he talked about his Rumble memories. The interviewer focused on HBK’s back-to-back Rumble wins in 1996 and 1997, the first one of which saw Michaels win from the number one spot.

When asked what his feelings are about those monumental wins, Mr. WrestleMania said:

“30 years ago, almost nothing. No, look, obviously the first one, going in at number one and lasting until the end, that obviously was very special because at the time I was the first guy to do that. And then, of course, you know, you get to share the ring with Pam Anderson, so a lot of things that made that one really cool and special.”

Michaels stated that without these wins, he wouldn’t have become a world champion in the company, something every wrestler aspires to in the business. It would be interesting to get more such snippets about HBK’s career in his upcoming documentary.
