Biloxi Shuckers honor neighborhood and crawfish with Mudbugs alternate identification – SportsLogos.Net News

The Biloxi Shuckers, Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers in the Southern League, expanded their repertoire of seafood-based identities with the unveiling of a new alternate brand for 2026. The team, whose primary identity is based on oysters, will play three games as the Biloxi Mudbugs, a colloquial term for crawfish along the Gulf Coast.

The identity is a tribute the importance of crawfish in Mississippi’s culinary tradition. Biloxi hosts an annual Crawfish Music Festival, and from February to June, the region celebrates crawfish boils, where the crustaceans are served on backyard picnic tables, typically covered with newspaper. Per the team, Mississippi ranks second in the nation in crawfish consumption, playing host to more than fifty restaurants on the Coast.

The identity, created by the design firm Brandiose, features a smiling crawfish, happily playing his part in the crawfish boil. A bubbly word mark is punctuated by a claw holding a wooden spatula.

“We wanted to introduce a fun, new alternate identity that tied directly to the social culture and traditions along the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” Shuckers General Manager Hunter Reed said in a statement. “We believe this is a perfect representation of the Coast and its culture.”

The Shuckers will play as the Mudbugs April 25, May 23, and August 15, all Saturdays.
