“This is madness” – Social media reacts to Yashasvi Jaiswal & Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 80-run stand off 30 balls in RR vs MI IPL 2026 conflict

Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi dazzled viewers with their blistering batting in the IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday, April 7. The game was reduced to 11-over-a-side due to rain.

While the rain gods showed mercy after a long delay, it was raining sixes after RR were asked to bat first. The innings kicked off with Jaiswal smashing 22 runs from the opening over off Deepak Chahar’s bowling.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya brought his pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah into the attack after the early onslaught. However, there was no respite as Vaibhav Suryavanshi welcomed the speedster with a first-ball six.

The RR openers scored 59 runs in the 3.2-over powerplay. The two left-handed batters added 80 runs off just 30 balls for the first wicket. Here’s how some fans reacted to their stand on X:

It is worth mentioning that both Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal are yet to be dismissed in the powerplay this season.

Shardul Thakur breaks RR’s opening partnership after conceding 18 runs in fifth over

However, he managed to get the breakthrough on the final ball of the over. Suryavanshi went for another big one on the off side. He seemed to have hit it quite well, but didn’t get the elevation and was caught by Tilak Varma at deep extra cover.

The 15-year-old contributed 39 runs off 14 balls with five sixes and one four, finishing with an astonishing strike rate of 278.57. RR ultimately posted 150/3 in 11 overs. Jaiswal was the top performer with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 77 off 32 balls. Skipper Riyan Parag chipped in with a 20-run cameo off 10 balls. Allah Ghazanfar picked up two wickets for MI.
