Golfing icon John Daly joined Jason and Travis Kelce for Wednesday’s episode of the ‘New Heights’ Podcast. The two-time major winner spoke about an array of topics, including a hilarious story about Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre.
“The funniest line from Brett Favre. I’m playing with him in the Pro Am in Memphis in August. It’s 125 degrees. Daly said at the 1:13:51 mark on Spotify.
Thanks for the submission!
“We’re on the 15th. Oh, he go, You know what? Daly, I’d rather have a 350-pound lineman just run my a*s over right now.”

Daly’s words got a good laugh on the podcast, as it compared the rigors of casual golfing to those of the NFL. Favre won three MVP Awards and a Super Bowl in his 20-year NFL career.
Daly also spoke about how The Masters stands out amongst the majors. Jason Kelce will be covering the 2026 Masters as part of ESPN’s broadcast. It’s his latest assignment since retiring from professional football in 2010.
Brett Favre enjoyed a Hall of Fame career
Brett Favre was one of the most durable quarterbacks of his era. The Southern Miss product’s professional career spanned three decades.
Favre has one of the most impressive résumés in football. He is a one-time Super Bowl champion, three-time MVP, one-time Offensive Player of the Year, 11-time Pro Bowler, four-time NFL passing touchdowns leader, two-time NFL passing yards leader, and he’s a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. Favre was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
Favre is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks of the 1990s; he also thrived for large spells in the 2000s as a member of the Packers, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings. He called it a career at the end of the 2010 season.
John Daly’s hilarious story about Favre indicates that the three-time MVP maintains his competitive edge. However, it’s unlikely that he’ll be getting tackled by any 350-pound lineman anytime soon.
