I’m going to make him pay me

Paulo Costa has reignited tensions following UFC 327 and aimed fresh shots at Josh Hokit over what he believes was a flawed bonus call.

The dispute centres on the post-fight payouts in Miami, where Hokit secured both Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses, totalling $200,000. Costa, who delivered a third-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Azamat Murzakanov in his light heavyweight debut, received only a standard $25,000 finish bonus.

Costa has since argued that his performance warranted the higher-tier award. He maintains that finishing a 16-0 fighter carries more weight than a decision win, regardless of volume or pace.

In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, he said:

“He had a great fight, I can’t lie. I think that was one of the best heavyweight fights I’ve ever seen in my life… but he got two bonuses. He got my performance bonus. I performed better than him… He owes me $100K, and I’m going to get that $100K one way or another. I’m going to make him pay me that $100K. We’ve got a beef right now. We’ve got a problem. A big problem… 100,000 problems.”

Hokit’s win over Curtis Blaydes was widely praised for its output and competitiveness. The heavyweight contest produced a record 354 significant strikes, with Hokit surviving early adversity before maintaining control across three rounds to earn a unanimous decision.

The performance pushed him into the top five of the division and positioned him for a high-profile matchup against Derrick Lewis. Meanwhile, Costa’s win at 205 pounds resulted in an immediate rankings entry at number seven.

Josh Hokit responds to Paulo Costa after UFC 327 bonus dispute

Josh Hokit has responded to Paulo Costa after the Brazilian targeted him over the UFC 327 bonus distribution. Hokit earned both Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night for his win over Curtis Blaydes in Miami, securing a $200,000 payout and a future bout against Derrick Lewis.

Costa, who stopped Azamat Murzakanov in his light heavyweight debut, was left without a major bonus despite a decisive finish. He took issue with the outcome and directed his frustration at Hokit online.

Hokit answered with a dismissive response on X, writing:

“Fight Deez Nu*z… But yes of course, I got like 20% body fat but don’t get it twisted my Incredible Hok Juice is far more superior then your Secret Juice”
