Danhausen lastly addresses his time in AEW: “I was not there”

Danhausen was a part of the AEW roster for a few years. He has finally addressed his time in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Danhausen joined the AEW roster in 2022 and was a part of the Best Friends for a while. His antics on screen got him over with the fans. However, after the Best Friends split, it almost seemed like Tony Khan had no use for him. While he was active on the independent scene, he barely showed up on AEW TV. Therefore, he left the Jacksonville-based promotion and signed with WWE earlier this year. Since then, he has become one of the most beloved stars on the roster.

Speaking on the Cheap Heat podcast, the WWE star finally addressed his time in AEW. He said that it appeared as if he was doing a lot in the promotion because of the content he was posting online. However, he was not there. Instead, he was working the independent scene.

“No, you didn’t. You definitely did not. You saw me online a lot. Perception is reality. Danhausen would do vlogs backstage on his own and do videos with his enemies and his friendhausens, and he’d put those out there so maybe it seemed like I was doing more than I was. I was not there. I was doing the independent scenes. That’s what I was doing. About three a weekend or doing conventions and some sort like New York Comic Con and things like that.” [H/T Fightful on X]

Jim Ross commented on Danhausen’s WWE debut

Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber 2026 when he came out of a wooden crate. However, he was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd after his entrance concluded. Needless to say, this was not the reaction WWE was expecting. Despite this, the sports entertainment juggernaut has continued to push him.

Speaking on his Grillin’ JR podcast, Jim Ross said that the former AEW star was put in a tough spot during his debut, which he was not ready for.

“It’s like WrestleMania, for God’s sake. You just don’t… I don’t know, it put Danhausen in a tough spot. Was he ready for that moment? I don’t think he was. I think there are a lot of people who didn’t even know who the hell he was,” said JR [H/T: Ringside]

It remains to be seen if Very Nice, Very Evil’s stock in WWE will continue to rise.
