WWE Backlash 2026 is the next premium live event of the Stamford-based promotion. It will be the first PLE after this year’s WrestleMania, which shook the entire landscape.
Roman Reigns is now the new World Heavyweight Champion on RAW. During RAW after WrestleMania 42, WWE dropped some major hints for its Backlash match card.
Thanks for the submission!
For those unaware, Backlash 2026 is set to take place live on May 9, 2026, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, FL.
In this article, we will be making a full match card prediction for Backlash 2026.
#5. Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker returned at WrestleMania 42 and cost Seth Rollins against Gunther. The distraction from the former NXT Champion resulted in the Ring General’s victory. In the post-match, Bron continued to assault the Architect and hit him with an insane running spear at ringside.
On RAW after WrestleMania 42, Bron continued targeting Rollins and issued him a stern warning. Soon, the former Vision leader came and attacked the new Big Dog.
However, Bron regained control and destroyed Seth Rollins. There is a lot of history between them, and it seems that WWE is pulling all the strings in their feud post-Mania.
With all the recent developments, WWE is likely to head with Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins at Backlash 2026. The Triple H-led creative regime may likely add a stipulation to prevent the Vision members’ distraction in this match by banning them from the ringside.
#4. Logan Paul and Austin Theory vs the Street Profits
Logan Paul and Austin Theory are the current World Tag Team Champions on the red brand. On RAW after WrestleMania 42, the Maverick and the A-Town Down star tried to help Bron Breakker against Seth Rollins before Street Profits made a surprise comeback.
Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford attacked the champions, taking them out. The return of the Street Profits and their direct targeting of the Tag Team Champions are clear signs that WWE is building a feud between them.
At Backlash 2026, Logan Paul and Austin Theory might lock horns against the Street Profits in a tag team match. The World Tag Team Championship is likely to be put on the line in this showdown.
#3. LA Knight vs Gunther for the no. 1 contendarship
After Roman Reigns became the new World Heavyweight Champion, everyone is eager to get a world title shot. During RAW this week, Jacob Fatu confronted the Original Tribal Chief and demanded a world title bout.
Before this, LA Knight and Gunther were spotted backstage, where both stars were teasing their plans to challenge the OTC for the World Heavyweight Title. The Ring General firmly believes that after defeating the Visionary at ‘Mania, he is ready for another world title reign.
Meanwhile, The Megastar disagreed with this fact and affirmed that he had beaten Rollins, too, in the past. Their heated backstage interaction subtly indicates that WWE is planning a match between them.
With Backlash 2026 on the horizon, fans can witness Knight vs Gunther at the forthcoming PLE. The winner may earn a world title shot against the Head of the Table post-Backlash.
#2. Liv Morgan vs Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship
Liv Morgan is the new Women’s World Champion on the red brand. The Miracle Kid dethroned Vaquer at WrestleMania with the help of Judgment Day members.
In the aftermath of WrestleMania, Sol Ruca confronted Liv Morgan and the two engaged in a heated exchange on RAW. Following this, Stephanie made her presence and had a face-off with Morgan on the entrance ramp, confirming that their feud is not over yet.
The Backlash Premium Live Event is famous for WrestleMania rematches. Considering this, it appears WWE is planning a Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer rematch for the show. However, this time, the Judgment Day member will defend the gold against the former champion.
#1. Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion
Roman Reigns reunited with the Usos in the main event of Monday Night RAW. The OTC affirmed that he doesn’t want Jey & Jimmy Uso to serve him, but instead wants his family back together in the business.
Reigns called it a ‘Family Business,’ and the YEET Master and the Big Jim are ready to help the World Heavyweight Champion. Soon, Jacob Fatu confronted Roman and issued a challenge to him for Backlash 2026.
The Samoan Werewolf claimed he wants a world title match and wanted to enjoy all the luxuries as the World Heavyweight Champion. Though Reigns has yet to accept, it’s almost certain he will accept the former US Champion’s challenge.
This will lead to Roman vs Jaocb for the World title at Backlash 2026.
