Currently, there are 10 Companions available in the game, each obtained through various methods, including quests, exploration, and random encounters. Once you reach Level 30, you will receive the Companion Satchel, which allows you to equip and level up pets that assist you during gameplay. Here are their relevant details:
Gary Gator Companion
- Location: Mushgrove Swamps (Alligator Marsh)
- Coordinates: 2653, 132, -751
- Acquisition: To get Gary Gator, head to the marsh during early sunrise and equip Shark Head Bait. Stay near the water and wait patiently until the gator approaches and bites the bait, which will allow you to befriend it. If the timing doesn’t line up, you can use a Sundial Totem to quickly shift between day and night.
Tropical Toucan Companion
- Location: Lost Jungle
- Coordinates: -2924, 275, -2149
- Acquisition: Head to the Lost Jungle and locate the Toucan perched on a tree root at the given coordinates. Equip Centipede, Snail, or any bait from the region and offer it to the bird. It may take multiple attempts before the Toucan accepts your offering and becomes your Companion.
Penguin Pal Companion
- Location: Snowcap Island (Snowburrow)
- Coordinates: 2865, 141, 2557
- Acquisition: Start by purchasing Krill Bait from the nearby merchant on Snowcap Island. Then, access the hidden Snowburrow cave by interacting with the cracked walls in quick succession. Inside, place Reinforced Crab Cages with Krill Bait and wait for results. Since this method is RNG-based, you may need to check back multiple times before unlocking Penguin Pal.
Silly Seal Companion
- Location: Northern Expedition
- Acquisition: Head to the Northern Expedition and look for seals resting on floating ice platforms. Approach one and offer a fish of Legendary rarity or higher. If the seal runs away, wait briefly and try again with another seal until one accepts and bonds with you.
Plunderbeak Companion
- Location: Forsaken Shores
- Acquisition: To unlock Plunderbeak, you must first meet several requirements, including obtaining the Scurvy Rod, completing the Forsaken Shores Bestiary, and opening at least 10 Treasure Maps. Once all conditions are fulfilled, head to the area and use the Scurvy Rod while waiting for the birds to appear and approach you.
Nico Cat Companion
- Location: Underground Music Venue
- Acquisition: Make your way to the Underground Music Venue and interact with the Crazy Cat Lady. Completing both parts of her riddle quest is mandatory, and once finished, Nico Cat will become available as your Companion.
Flopping Salmon Companion
- Location: Ocean
- Acquisition: Go out into the open ocean and use a Tempest Totem to trigger rainfall. Equip a rod with a high lure and progress speed, then continue fishing patiently. This Companion is obtained randomly, so persistence is key until the Flopping Salmon eventually appears.
Little Meg Companion
- Location: Megalodon Hunt Event
- Acquisition: Little Meg can only be obtained during a Megalodon Hunt event when Blue Megs are present in the area. You can either use a Megalodon Totem to trigger the event or wait for it to occur naturally. During the hunt, focus on landing a perfect catch to secure the Companion.
Beak Bill Companion
- Location: Wooden Docks
- Acquisition: Beak Bill appears on wooden docks during rainy conditions. You can either wait for rain or use a Tempest Totem to force the weather. Once you spot it, offer a small fish, or a higher rarity one if needed, to befriend it.
Mutated Sharky Companion
- Location: The Depths
- Acquisition: Travel to The Depths and trigger the Absolute Darkness event using a suitable rod. During this phase, look for a glowing neon green fish and approach it carefully without scaring it away. Equip a low lure speed rod along with Fish Head Bait, then cast your line and interact at the right moment to obtain Mutated Sharky.
