The Parrying Dagger is purchasable from the in-game shop, as previously mentioned. It is priced at 7,000 Screws, making it among the more expensive items in the game. Screws can be obtained by completing matches, meaning the resource is fairly abundant. As such, over time, you should accrue the required amount to purchase it.
Once purchased, you can equip it in an active slot while playing as a Survivor. Equip it to gain access to the Parry ability, which has your avatar assume a counter stance. If a Killer attacks you while you are in this stance, the attack will be parried, stunning the assailant for four seconds.
The counter stance lasts 0.8 seconds, meaning you will have to be precise to make good use of this item. Upon successfully parrying the enemy, the Parry ability goes on a 90-second cooldown, while unsuccessful parries cause a 60-second cooldown instead.
Parries are an extremely useful form of defence in this title, where the resulting stun can turn the tides of the round in your favor. Its low counter stance active window makes it so Killers typically don’t think to keep it in mind while pursuing Survivors. So, they are much more likely to use their regular attacks, which are the easiest to parry. Note that against special skills like those of The Cure, the Parry skill may not work at all, potentially forcing you to fall back on secondary strategies.
