Sean Manaea is a pitcher for the New York Mets, having signed a three-year, $75M deal on Dec. 27, 2024. He was a first-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in the 2013 MLB draft. The lefty pitcher made his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics on April 29, 2016.
Manaea was born on Feb. 1, 1992, in Valparaiso, Indiana. He has been married to Talat (nee Mirmalek) since Nov. 16, 2024. They tied the knot at Indianapolis Artsgarden.
Many of his current and then-teammates, including Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, attended the wedding. The multicultural wedding ceremony integrated Persian, Samoan and American traditions.

Manaea and his wife welcomed a daughter in late 2025. The couple had announced their pregnancy through a joint Instagram post on May 3, 2025. They haven’t yet disclosed the baby’s name or date of birth.
Manaea has known Talat since at least early 2020. He was playing for the Oakland Athletics at the time. Meanwhile, Talat was working as an EMS first responder and paramedic for the San Francisco Fire Department in Oakland and San Francisco.
Manaea proposed to Talat on the 2023 New Year’s Eve. The couple marked the occasion with a combined Instagram post on Jan. 2.
“To my partner in crime, I love you. To the merger of our families and to all the celebrations 🥰🤗,” Talat captioned the post.
The post featured a single picture. Talat posed, highlighting the engagement ring. Meanwhile, Manaea looked at the ring with an ecstatic reaction.

Sean Manaea’s wife, Talat Mirmalek, is of Iranian descent. She was born to Mohammed Mirmalek and Zahra Khorsandi. The surname Mirmalek is heavily rooted in Iranian heritage, notably shared by Rasoul Mirmalek, the late Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler.
Talat has a sister, Taliah, who is a field attorney for the National Labour Regulations Board in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex, per her LinkedIn. She has been working full-time since August 2023.
Taliah’s educational journey includes studies at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and Diablo Valley College before transferring to the University of California, Berkley. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and rhetoric from UC Berkeley in 2016.
Taliah continued her education at Berkeley School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor between 2020 and 2023. Professionally, she became licensed to practice law through the State Bar of Michigan.
