Andre Agassi’s recent comments on Jannik Sinner’s exit from the French Open sparked debate among fans. Sinner’s run came to a shocking end in the second round after Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo dominated him in five sets.
Although the scorching heat made him feel dizzy, Sinner stated it wasn’t the reason for his loss. In a press conference, the World No.1 highlighted that he wasn’t keeping well since the morning, and that affected his performance. However, Agassi offered a different perspective on Sinner’s defeat.
Thanks for the submission!
The former World No.1 suggested that the issue might have been due to inadequate preparation for certain conditions rather than fitness.
“Sinner going out was huge. I don’t know if you called him out enough on that though, by the way,” Agassi said. “To go from him playing five and a half hours last year in the final and having the heat tap him in an hour and 45 minutes. There’s a difference between being fit and being prepared. And I have to point at a flaw in that kind of preparation because there’s something you can do about that.”
Fans found themselves divided after Agassi’s blunt verdict, one of whom slammed the French Open champion, writing:
“I just lost so much respect for Agassi after this. Bro really thinks he’s a member on sinner’s team and knows exactly what’s going on with him. The reality is, sinner nor his team have revealed what he was struggling with other than that he was feeling unwell that morning.”
Another fan aligned their view with Agassi, highlighting Sinner’s failure despite his world-class team.
“He’s spitting facts. World class athlete with a full team of people keeping him in good shape and he can’t finish an easy match in a major?”
One of the fans took a jab at Andre Agassi for forming the verdict based on partial information.
“If @AndreAgassi had actually paid attention, he would know that Sinner said it had nothing to do with the heat, that he was sick from that morning, and that’s why he was trying to keep the points short from the very beginning of the match,” the fan chimed in.
Here are a few more reactions:
“Most interesting take I’ve heard from that table in all their countless hours of babbling. Agassi only one unafraid to speak his mind.”
“We don’t know what is or what was going on with Sinner so it’s a bit harsh to say there was no excuse.”
“What a terrible take on the situation. Who knows what is going on with Sinner. He could have ended the game but he still played and dd not give up. He does not make excuses. Nasty from you Andre.”
Andre Agassi opens up on the extra day of rest for Alexander Zverev and Jakub Mensik ahead of their semifinal faceoff at the 2026 French Open

Andre Agassi shared his view on how an extra rest day could affect Alexander Zverev and Jakub Mensik ahead of their semifinal faceoff at the 2026 French Open. He opined that Mensik will benefit more from the break, and it will help him recover.
“In my experience, that’s enough for you to get back to a full tank. He [Mensik] has a huge game.
However, for Zverev, Andre Agassi suggested that the rest day could be mentally exhausting.
“Let me comment on two days off for Zverev. That’s not easy when you’ve never won a Slam, and you have two days to think about. I have a hunch he’s going to be nervous.” (via tennishead.net)
Zverev and Mensik will vie on Friday, June 5, 2026.
