Alexander Zverev’s girlfriend Sophia Thomalla recently penned a sweet message for the freshly crowned French Open champion. After missing his triumph in person, the German model had a three-word note for her boyfriend.
Zverev, who spent a large part of his career being hailed as the ‘best player to have never won a major’, entered Roland Garros as the second seed and a strong contender for the title behind 2025 runner-up Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. As the tournament progressed, the 29-year-old quickly became a favorite to lift the trophy as Sinner, Djokovic, as well as the likes of Casper Ruud made early exits.
Thanks for the submission!
While some wondered if he would crumble under the pressure of being the front-runner for the win, Alexander Zverev beat Flavio Cobolli on Sunday to lift his maiden Grand Slam title. Reacting to his triumph, his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla wrote on Instagram,
“He did it.”

Zverev and Thomalla have been together since 2020. The duo often give fans updates about their lives together and show their support for each other on social media.
Alexander Zverev thanks his team and the crowd in emotional French Open speech

Alexander Zverev began his two weeks in Paris by clinching comfortable wins over Benjamin Bonzi and Tomas Machac. The German was then pushed to four sets by Quentin Halys, before he managed to take down Netherlands’ Jesper de Jong and rising star Rafael Jodar. For his semifinals encounter, the 29-year-old defeated Jakub Mensik and in the finals he outlasted Italy’s Flavio Cobolli.
After the win, Zverev thanked his team in an emotional speech, saying,
“I just want to say thank you to everybody. We have been through so much. Injuries, heartbreak, losses. We have been losers at times as well in the most important moments, but at the end of the day we are Grand Slam champions now, and that is what counts.”
The German also thanked the audience of Roland Garros, saying,
“This court is so special to me in so many ways. I have had the best moments of my life on this court, and I have had the worst moment of my life on this court. I was lying on the floor in that corner over there four years ago with seven broken ligaments and two fractured bones, and I lost a Grand Slam final here two years ago. Now finally it is a happy ending. Thank you very much to the crowd.”
Up next, Alexander Zverev will now return to action for the grass season beginning at the Terra Wortmann Open. The tournament takes place between June 15 and 21 in Halle, Germany.
