“Me When Stephanie White Has Gun to My Head”: Fever Fans React To Sophie Cunningham’s Seemingly Contradictory Posts About Caitlin Clark’s Game-Winner

The Indiana Fever secured a late win against the Washington Mystics on Monday thanks to Caitlin Clark’s clutch 3-pointer. The go-ahead basket was assisted by Sophie Cunningham.

After the game, Cunningham shared multiple posts on Instagram, including a meme suggesting that she and Clark had gone off-script on the final play, putting them at odds with Fever coach Stephanie White.

A fan highlighted the post on X, interpreting it as a dig at the coach.

“No way Sophie just posted this, they really went rogue on the final play LMFAOOOOOO,” the fan wrote.

However, Cunningham later clarified that they had, in fact, followed White’s game plan to the letter.

“You guys read too much into things. That’s THE EXACT play our coach drew up, and we executed it perfectly!” Cunningham remarked.

Despite her clarification, Cunningham’s posts raised eyebrows among Fever fans, with some believing the guard was backtracking on her stance amid perceptions of White’s alleged control over the team.

“Me when Stephanie White has a gun to my head,” a fan commented.

@sophaller Me when stephanie white has a gun to my head

@sophaller Sophie blink twice if Stephanie White is in the room and holding you hostage until you post this

@sophaller The @IndianaFever organization made Sophie say she was joking and that was exactly the play the coach drew up 🤦‍♀️

Fans continued to debate the posts online, with many noting that Lexie Hull had said the game-winning play was spontaneous and not drawn up by the coach.

@sophaller Didn’t Lexie say it wasn’t?

So why did Lexie say otherwise on the radio???

The Fever returned to winning ways, following a loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday. The result also keeps Indiana in the hunt in the Commissioner’s Cup, as it sits third in the Eastern Conference.

Sophie Cunningham offers an honest reaction to Caitlin Clark’s game-winner

The Indiana Fever secured a tense win over the Washington Mystics on Monday, but it didn’t come easy. After building a 14-point lead at halftime, Indiana let it slip, with the Mystics mounting a strong second-half comeback and even going ahead by a point with just two seconds left.

That’s when Caitlin Clark stepped up. She received the ball from Sophie Cunningham and knocked down the game-winner at the buzzer.

Cunningham summed up the rollercoaster finish in her own way after the game.

“Stressin me tf out,” Cunningham wrote on X.

It was the Fever’s first away win since their opening-week victory against the LA Sparks.
