Killswitch Engage Pays Emotional Tribute To WWE Legend CM Punk

Popular metal band Killswitch Engage recently paid an emotional tribute to CM Punk. The Best in the World has been away from WWE programming for nearly 2 months now following his World Heavyweight Championship loss to Roman Reigns in the Main Event of Night 2 of WrestleMania. The Second City Saint received an emotional tribute from the band that performed his first theme song in WWE at their recent concert.

After Seth Rollins injured his shoulder during his match against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, the World Heavyweight Championship was vacated. CM Punk captured the World title after defeating Jey Uso in a singles match at the November edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. During his run as Champion, Punk defeated stars like Bron Breakker, Finn Balor, and also had a no contest with AJ Styles on RAW. After winning the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match, Reigns chose Punk as his opponent for WrestleMania 42.

The WrestleMania 42 Sunday main event had become a very personal fight by the time the bell had rung. During the build up to their iconic showdown, Punk had disrespected Roman Reigns’ father while the Tribal Chief continuously called Punk old. After an intense match, the OTC defeated CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. After this, Punk appeared only at the RAW after WrestleMania in a confrontation with Cody Rhodes and hasn’t been on WWE programming ever since.

While fans today know “Cult of Personality” by Living Color as CM Punk’s theme song. Earlier in the day, Punk used to come out to “This Fire Burns” by Killswitch Engage. The band was recently performing the song during a concert in Detroit where they paid tribute to the Best in the World by playing his titantron in the background. They used the same video that was used for Punk’s WrestleMania entrance last year. A fan posted the video of this on Instagram.

It is great to see a band like Killswitch Engage to pay tribute to the former World Heavyweight Champion like this.

CM Punk could be moving to SmackDown upon his return

In his last appearance on WWE programming, CM Punk addressed his loss to Reigns at WrestleMania. He further went on to say how he’s always been open to opportunities and gotten the best of them. As he was saying this, Cody Rhodes’ came out to interrupt the Best in the World.

Rhodes and Punk have been teasing a feud ever since the latter returned to the company back in 2023. Cody told Punk to just “say when” whenever he wants to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Now that Roman Reigns is on WWE RAW, SmackDown doesn’t have any major stars on the roster. Punk could actually join SmackDown following his return and finally start feuding with Cody Rhodes.

It will be interesting to see what Triple H has planned for CM Punk next.
