“He’s Cocky A**”: Former NFL Legend Issues Brutal Putdown of Victor Wembanyama

NBA fans adore Victor Wembanyama and his impressive performance, which has led the San Antonio Spurs to the finals in his first playoff run. However, the Spurs have found themselves in a tough situation as they are down 3-1 against the New York Knicks. One of their biggest blunders happened in Game 4, when the team blew a 29-point lead.

On Wednesday, Wembanyama and the Spurs set a new NBA Finals record by making 14 3-pointers in the first half. This helped them build a sizeable lead heading into halftime. Unfortunately for San Antonio, they couldn’t replicate the same offensive performance and only scored 30 points in the second half.

The Knicks were resilient and came back from the game to secure a 107-106 win.

Following this, former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber offered harsh criticism about Wembanyama. Barber claimed that the two-time All-Star isn’t humble and that his actions of taunting the Knicks in Game 4 came back to bite the Spurs.

“He’s a cocky a**,” Barber said. “Wemby is. He really is. There’s no humility in his game. … When it comes back to get you, nobody feels sorry for you. Everybody says you deserved it. Wemby, you deserve to miss two free throws at the end. You deserved to get punked and shoot 2-for-11 — whatever it was in the fourth quarter.

“You deserved everything you got because you put it way out there before, against a team in the Knicks. Who were committed to winning every moment, and the Spurs weren’t. … You can’t keep shooting 3s when you don’t make them.”

In Game 4, the Spurs became too reliant on shooting 3-pointers, especially after knocking down 14 in the first two quarters. This became one of the main reasons why Victor Wembanyama and his team lost against the Knicks.

De’Aaron Fox Spoke Highly of Victor Wembanyama’s Humility

Despite what Barber said about Victor Wembanyama’s humility, the players around the Spurs star are the ones who truly know him. Before Game 4, two-time All-Star De’Aaron Fox pointed out that Wembanyama’s humbleness is something that stands out.

“I think his humbleness is the first thing that you see whenever you’re around him,” Wembanyama said. “This guy could be an a-hole if he wanted to be because of the talent that he has at such a young age. He’s nowhere near that and he’s nowhere near his potential as well.”

Fox said that Victor Wembanyama is a better person than he is as a basketball player. Even when he’s playing, the star guard said that his humility is evident in his game, as he is unselfish. Wembanyama is one of the best team players always wanting to see his teammates succeed with him.
