Carolina Hurricanes fans are gearing up for a long-awaited party in Raleigh as the team prepares to parade the Stanley Cup through downtown streets following their championship win.
The victory parade is set for Saturday, June 20, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Hurricanes will first bring the Cup to the intersection of Hillsborough Street and St. Mary’s Street, then head east along Hillsborough Street.
They will then turn south on Salisbury Street at the State Capitol, continue east on Morgan Street, and then head south on Fayetteville Street before ending at City Plaza. There, the crowd will be treated to celebrations by the players and special guests.
Meanwhile, Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell recently announced that June 20 will be proclaimed as Carolina Hurricanes Day in honor of the franchise’s second Stanley Cup championship, their first since 2006.
The Hurricanes defeated the Golden Knights in six games to claim the crown. Notably, they’re closing roads earlier for the event. Parts of Hillsborough Street and nearby roads will start shutting down by 8 a.m.
Fans are expected to fill the downtown area in large numbers, with local businesses preparing for a strong turnout. The parade will showcase the team and the Stanley Cup, offering fans who missed the home playoff games an opportunity to celebrate together.
Additional details on viewing areas, traffic impacts, and event logistics are expected in the coming days.
Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal creates history after winning playoff MVP

Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal was a key contributor in helping the Canes capture their second Stanley Cup championship.
Staal was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the most valuable player of the playoffs. At 37 years old, he became the oldest player in NHL history to win the award.
Speaking after the win, he said (via NHL.com):
“I’m happy I stuck around. I believed in the culture. I believed in what we were trying to build in Carolina. An amazing feeling to be able to build something like that and then to top it all off with this, I mean, it’s an absolute dream come true.”
This marks the second Stanley Cup for Jordan Staal, having previously won it with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. He amassed 12 points, including eight goals and four assists, in 19 postseason games.
