PICTURE: Alexander Zverev’s daughter Mayla makes uncommon public look with German’s girlfriend Sophia at Halle

Alexander Zverev’s daughter Mayla watched the newly-crowned French Open champion’s Halle opener sitting in his box alongside his partner Sophia Thomalla. Mayla happens to be the daughter of Zverev and his former partner Brenda Patea, and was born in March 2021.

Zverev played his first match on grass this season at the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Germany, and won, with the World No. 3 surviving a second-set fightback from Czech star Vit Kopriva to register a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory. During the match, cameras captured the 25-time career singles titlist’s daughter Mayla bonding with his girlfriend Sophia. Check out the picture below:

It’s worth noting that Alexander Zverev gained considerable notoriety in the world of tennis and beyond after Brenda Patea accused him publicly of domestic violence in late 2023 and subsequently sought legal recourse. The case was settled during the German’s 2024 French Open campaign, but the settlement stirred significant controversy. Meanwhile, Zverev and Patea currently share joint custody of their daughter Mayla.

In a February 2026 interview with ATP Media ahead of the Mexican Open in Acapulco, the ATP star spoke up about his desire of Mayla growing up as a ‘normal child’, away from social media.

“I try to keep her away from the spotlight. I want her to be a normal child, growing up with a normal life. I try to keep her out of social media, all the Instagrammie stuff,” Zverev said.

After a hard-fought three-set win in the first round of the 2026 Halle Open, Alexander Zverev is set to meet compatriot Yannick Hanfmann in the second round. Zverev, the top seed in Halle, is a former two-time runner-up at the prestigius grass-court event, having finished second-best in 2016 and 2017 to Florian Mayer and Roger Federer respectively.

Zverev and Hanfmann have faced each other only once before; a Round of 16 clash in Munich back in 2018, which the former won in three sets. If the World No. 3 comes out on top in the pair’s upcoming match, he will go on to lock horns with either Raphael Collignon of Belgium or Mattia Bellucci of Italy. Both Collignon and Bellucci are qualifiers in the Halle main draw this year.
