The opener of a four-game series in New York between the Mets and Chicago Cubs was postponed due to storms in the area on Monday.

The teams will attempt to play one game Tuesday as planned followed by a split doubleheader Wednesday. Game 1 will begin at 1:10 p.m. local time and the second game will follow at 7:10.

The Cubs have had back-to-back days off after Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Wrigley Field was rained out and rescheduled as a standalone game Aug. 6.

It was unclear how pitching plans would be affected. The Mets planned to start struggling right-hander Kodai Senga (0-5, 9.00 ERA) on Monday opposite Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga (4-6, 4.26). New York righty Nolan McLean (4-4, 3.67) was scheduled to start Tuesday’s game against Chicago righty Edward Cabrera (4-4, 5.21).

The Mets remain in last place in the National League East at 34-43 and have lost four of six. The Cubs are 40-37, third in the NL Central.
