The Deltarune ARG (Augmented Reality Game) had recently stirred, leading up to the launch of Chapter 5, resulting in fan unrest. To put it simply, it’s a guessing game for the community to indulge in by means of clues and crumbs pertaining to what might happen next in the actual game.
That said, how did this all begin, and how is the community taking to it? Here’s all you need to know about the Deltarune ARG.

What is the Deltarune ARG, and can you participate?
Before we dive into the details of the ARG, you may be wondering: What is Deltarune in the first place? For the uninitiated, it is an RPG from creator Toby Fox, who was also behind the universally beloved indie hit Undertale. Deltarune Chapter 5 has just been released, moving the episodic narrative forward.
However, a handful of those following along from the start have been roped in for a little mini-game of sorts, the aforementioned ARG. It all started with the Spamton’s Sweepstakes event back in 2022, which hosted a campaign for the Child’s Play charity. This was when users discovered hidden webpages.
It wasn’t until May 2025 that users discovered deltarune.com/chapter4/thankyou/ with the question: “How long did it take her to smile?” that was asked in the tab of their browser. There were three UI elements on the website, where users were able to enter their email and answer into the first two text fields, while the third was a submit button.
Of course, since there were no labels, no one really knew what to do, so the community came together for some sleuthing. Turns out that filling or not filling the text fields resulted in a “Thank You” on the webpage and different email responses.
In December 2025, a second email was sent to those who responded, titled “Second Chance”, allowing fans to guess again. Based on the responses here, some users who typed in “Until next time” in the Subject of the email received a response saying “Move forward with this answer”, suggesting a third round was in the pipeline.
Fast forward to the first couple of weeks of June 2026, and the next question was asked: “What about next time?”. Once responses were submitted, the webpage displayed the following stats:
- Available entrants: 1,571
- Total received: 1,229
- Next correspondence: When less than 24 hours are left.
At this point, you might be wondering: What do all these questions mean? To avoid spoilers, let’s just say they are related to Deltarune Chapters 3, 4, and 5, especially characters and events found in them. Furthermore, if you haven’t figured it out at this point, the Deltarune ARG had been eliminating incorrect users from its pool until only a few remained.
The last question was sent out on June 23, 2026, just 24 hours before the launch of Deltarune Chapter 5: “Where will it take place?” and those who responded “The Lake” or “The Shore” received a screenshot of the protagonist Kris near the lake. So what does all of this mean in the end? We do not know yet.
We still have two more Chapters to go before Deltarune is officially wrapped up, so the ARG might not be over yet. Those looking to partake in the Deltarune ARG now, however, will be disappointed to learn that they are too late for the event. This includes any future attempts as well, since this mini-game seems to be narrowing players down to a few. To what end, that remains to be seen.
