ECHL Unveils Retro Jerseys for Canada vs. USA All-Star Classic in 2027

The ECHL is putting a retro twist on one of hockey’s biggest rivalries for its next midseason showcase.

On Wednesday, June 24, the league — two levels below the National Hockey League — announced the format and unveiled the jerseys for its 2027 All-Star Classic, to held January 26 and 27, 2027, in Boise, Idaho.

Both the Skills Competition and the game itself will feature Canadian-born players against United States-born players. As such, the jerseys for both events feature patriotic flairs.

The game jerseys have a distinctly retro feel that would fit right into early 20th century aesthetics. The U.S. jersey has a cream base, navy blue shoulders and red stripes around the sleeves and waist. On the front is a shield with “USA” inside in front of a red star. The Canada jerseys, meanwhile, are red with cream stripes across the chest and around the sleeves. The front features a cream star with a red maple leaf inside.

The skills competition jerseys also throw it back, though not as far as the game jerseys do. The U.S. jerseys are navy blue with lighter blue panels forming a star pattern on the front, with “USA” in white with a red outline inside. Three angled red stripes appear on the sleeves, above a light blue star on the cuffs. The Canadian jerseys are dark red and feature a brighter red partial maple leaf that evokes Team Canada jerseys from the 1980s. Two bright red angled stripes run around the sleeves above a full maple leaf on the cuffs.

All four jerseys will have the 2027 All-Star Classic logo on the right shoulder and each player’s ECHL team logo on the left.

The All-Star Classic game will be a full 60-minute game between the Canadian and American sides. The Skills Competition will feature six events:

  • Fastest Skater
  • Hardest Shot
  • Accuracy Challenge
  • Stickhandling Relay
  • Premier Passer
  • Rapid Shootout

This will be second time Boise and the Idaho Steelheads have hosted the ECHL All-Star Classic, with the last time being in 2007.
