With the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow just around the corner, we break down India’s complete contingent. Running from July 23 to August 2, 2026, the Games feature a streamlined 10-sport program across 215 medal events. India is sending a highly competitive squad of roughly 125 to 130 athletes. Headlined by multiple Olympic and World champions, the contingent looks to consolidate India’s status as a dominant multi-sport powerhouse in the Commonwealth.

Athletics: Champion Neeraj Chopra leads the charge
India’s track and field squad features 32 members (22 men and 10 women), with a primary focus on throws, jumps, and relay events at the Scotstoun Stadium.
Javelin and Throws
- Neeraj Chopra headlines the athletics squad after being provisionally included following his recovery from a back injury. He aims to recapture his 2018 gold.
- Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh provide elite depth to the javelin discipline.
- Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill anchor the men’s Shot Put category, while Manpreet Kaur captains the women’s shot put assault. Seema Kaliramna and Nidhi Rani lead the Discus Throw events.
Jumps and Track events
- Murali Sreeshankar and Lokesh Sathyanathan spearhead the Long Jump contingent.

The weightlifting contingent will hold their events at the SEC Armadillo, with an exceptionally decorated roster.

- Mirabai Chanu (48kg): The two-time Commonwealth Games champion remains India’s strongest gold medal hope.
- Bindyarani Devi (58kg) and Harjinder Kaur (69kg): Both returning Birmingham silver medallists aim to upgrade their hardware.

- Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg): The rising star earned her ticket to Glasgow after a flawless 5-0 victory over national champion Minakshi Hooda in the national selection trials.
- Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Parveen Hooda (65kg), and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) complete the women’s roster.
