Popular American streamer and Cristiano Ronaldo fan IShowSpeed has named Kylian Mbappe as his favorite player remaining at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 21-year-old, who has over 50 million followers on Instagram, has been a devout Cristiano Ronaldo fan. But Portugal were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Spain as Ronaldo’s World Cup farewell ended in tears.
Thanks for the submission!
Speed was seen sobbing inconsolably in the stands after Portugal’s 1-0 defeat on Tuesday. He even penned a heartfelt note for Ronaldo on his social media after the match, calling him the ‘GOAT’.
But with the 2026 FIFA World Cup now into the quarter-final stage, Speed made an appearance during France’s 2-0 win over Morocco last night, sporting a unique half-France, half-Morocco jersey.
Ahead of the kick-off, he was asked who is now his favorite player at the tourmament after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, to which the influencer named France star Mbappe.
“My favourite player still in the tournament? Mbappé. He’s too good.”
Interestingly enough, Mbappe was on target in the match as the Real Madrid star broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a fabulous strike from range. The goal came after he missed a penalty in the first half. It also brought him level with Lionel Messi on top of the goalscoring charts with eight goals in the tournament this summer.
Ousmane Dembele doubled France’s advantage just six minutes later as Morocco’s dream run at the FIFA World Cup ended following a 2-0 defeat. Les Bleus marched into the semi-finals where they will face either Spain or Belgium.
Cristiano Ronaldo issues two-word message after FIFA World Cup exit
After the 2026 FIFA World Cup elimination by Spain, Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo posted a two-word message on social media.
He shared two pictures, one of himself in the Portugal shirt and one of the national team squad in a huddle, accompanied with the caption “Portugal Forever”.
The post quickly set the internet ablaze, garnering over 18 million likes and 700K comments from fans in less than 24 hours.
It also sparked widespread speculations over the 41-year-old’s Portugal future, with many wondering if he’s set to continue.
Despite confirming that this was his last FIFA World Cup with Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t officially announced his retirement from the national team yet and had revealed that he won’t make any decision in haste after the loss.
Since his competitive debut for Portugal in 2003, the forward has made a record 233 appearances for the national team while also netting 146 goals. He also led them to the 2016 European Championship and two UEFA Nations League titles too.
