76ers President Glazes LeBron James With “best player of all time” Tag As 4x Champ’s Philadelphia Buzz Intensifies

NBA star LeBron James is a free agent target of the Philadelphia 76ers this summer. The 76ers are determined to turn things around and contend for a championship, as they are building something special in Philly. When free agency started, the team surprised everyone by trading for star forward Jaylen Brown.

After this blockbuster deal, Philly wants to add James in the mix to have a starting lineup with Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. A starting five with a mix of rising NBA stars and players who are in their prime years could be a problem in the Eastern Conference.

On Monday, 76ers general manager Mike Gansey was asked about his thoughts on the four-time champion. Gansey had an interview with Tony Jones of The Athletic and knows that adding James to the team could make them an even better group. He went on to say how they have kept in touch with the star forward’s longtime agent, Rich Paul, amid his looming offseason decision.

“We’ve had conversations with Rich, really since the Jaylen trade,” Gansey said. “LeBron and his camp have kept quiet, and there has been speculation for different teams. But we’d obviously love to have LeBron. I respect the heck out of him. In my opinion, he’s the best player of all time.

“I think his decision is dragging out because he has a lot of good options and he wants to figure it out. He would obviously add a lot to our team. But at the end of the day, I know he’s going to make the right decision for him and his family.”

He has a prior connection with LeBron James when he was a Director of Development League Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012. He was part of the organization’s front office in 2016 when they won the championship.

VJ Edgecombe Joins Mike Gansey in Buttering Up LeBron James

Mike Gansey wasn’t the only one who had high praise for LeBron James. Upcoming second-year guard VJ Edgecombe spoke highly of the four-time MVP and what it would mean for the 76ers to acquire him this offseason.

“I think it’s been fun. It’s LeBron James, at the end of the day. To me, he’s the greatest player of all time,” Edgecombe said. “So, it would be amazing if he decided to come and play with us. Our goal is to win a championship. If we do get him, we’ll be happy. If not, we’ll still be happy. But it would be great if we do get him.”

Edgecombe is one-half of the 76ers’ dynamic backcourt that could appeal to LeBron James to play his 24th season in Philly. Additionally, Tyrese Maxey is a Klutch Sports athlete who has formed a close bond with James. These are just some of the advantages that the team could use to recruit the future Hall of Famer.
