Evolution is one of the most important progression systems in Anime Expeditions. While summoning stronger Units helps you clear difficult stages, evolving them unlocks even more power by improving their stats and granting brand-new passive abilities. However, not every character can evolve. Only a select group of units currently have evolved forms, and each one requires a specific combination of Sprites, Gold, and unique evolution materials.

You can obtain most evolution materials in Anime Expeditions by regularly completing Daily and Weekly Challenges. It’s also worth clearing Raids, Trials, and Story Mode whenever possible, as these game modes reward many of the items needed for unit evolution. If you’re not actively playing, you can leave your character in the AFK Chamber to passively earn certain resources over time. Crimson Crimson (Brother) 20 Red Sprites, 20 Pink Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, 5,000 Gold Piercing Crimson: Fires a piercing attack within range for 10 seconds. Enemies take continuous damage every second and receive the Crimson Mark.
True Saint True Saint (Holy) 1 Holy Pendant, 5 Red Sprites, 5 Blue Sprites, 5 Green Sprites, 5 Purple Sprites, 5 Yellow Sprites, 5 Pink Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, 5,000 Gold Seize: Steals 20% of the damage from the three strongest allied units within range for 60 seconds.
Cursed Student Cursed Student (True Love) 1 Student ID, 20 Blue Sprites, 20 Purple Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, 5,000 Gold Cursed Mimicry: Every third basic attack triggers a stronger follow-up attack. Spirit Bats: Every 20 Bleed stacks summons a Bat Spirit that attacks enemies.
Salmon Sorcerer Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) 1 Salmon, 20 Green Sprites, 20 Blue Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, 5,000 Gold Crumble Away: All upgrades apply 20% Slow. Plummet: Enemies entering range receive Stagger for two seconds.

Overcharge: Charge resets increase Arcane Spell damage. Arcane Spells: Unlocks stronger follow-up spells including Old Magic, Eruption, and Storm.
String Demon String Demon (Awakened) 1 Joker of the Nonsensical Pirates, 20 Yellow Sprites, 20 Pink Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, 5,000 Gold String Sync: Links with the nearest allied unit. When that ally attacks, String Demon performs an additional follow-up attack before breaking the link.

Evolving Units is one of the best ways to increase your overall damage and make your team more effective in tougher game modes. Besides improving a unit’s base stats, evolution also unlocks exclusive passive abilities that can add crowd control, damage-over-time effects, buffs, or entirely new attack mechanics. If you’re planning to take on late-game Story stages, Raids, or other challenging content, evolving your strongest units should be one of your top priorities.

How to Evolve Units in Anime Expeditions

Once you’ve collected all the required materials, evolving a unit is fairly straightforward.

  • Go to the Upgrades building in the main lobby.
  • Interact with the Evolution section.
  • Select the unit you want to evolve.
  • Check whether you’ve collected all the required materials.
  • If you’re missing crafting resources, use the Quick Craft option where available.
  • Click Evolve Unit to complete the upgrade.

After evolution, your unit permanently gains its upgraded form along with improved stats and its exclusive passive ability.
