Tony Khan Opens Up About His Relation With Goldberg: “Bill’s Opinion On Me Seems To Change”

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently spoke about his relationship with WWE legend Bill Goldberg.

The WWE Hall of Famer is credited with being one of the most dominant competitors of all time. He rose to prominence during his stint in WCW, then signed with WWE in 2003 for a year-long tenure. Goldberg stayed away from wrestling for 13 years before returning to WWE in 2016, after which he made multiple sporadic appearances. Last year, Goldberg had his retirement match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July, which he lost.

Furthermore, the former WCW Champion has also criticized All Elite Wrestling in the past. During a recent appearance on Fightful Overbooked, Tony Khan was asked about Goldberg, and he made it clear that he had no personal issues with him. However, regarding his remarks about AEW, Khan said his personal comments around him have been different from his public ones.

“Bill’s opinion on me seems to change. I’ve heard Bill say different, but whenever he’s around me, he’s very nice.”- H/T Ringside News

Tony Khan on WWE counterprogramming AEW with upcoming events

WWE has been counterprogramming AEW for a long time, aligning its major shows with them. During the same appearance, Tony Khan touched base on the same, after WWE announced Worlds Collide on the same date and from the same city as All Out 2026. Khan said that he took it as a compliment and said that his company had produced some of the best shows of the year.

“Yeah, you know, I see it as a compliment. The Jim Crockett compliment. It’s just the same kind of hospitality that the great Jim Crockett Jr. got, and I take it with great pleasure. I do really appreciate that (…) There’s a lot of great wrestling going on, and I’m fortunate and proud that AEW is part of the top wrestling in 2026. So many of the best wrestling shows, and in my opinion many of the best shows of 2026, have been AEW shows,” he said. [H/T – Ringside News]

As Khan continues to move forward with his promotion amid major competition, it will be interesting to see what he does next.
