Former West Indies captain Carlos Brathwaite recently shared his experience of playing a video game with Virat Kohli during an Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He recalled that the two played FIFA together, and Kohli got very competitive when he was about to lose.
Brathwaite pointed out that Kohli’s drive and passion are not limited to cricket and extend to other things as well. The cricketer-turned-commentator said on the YouTube channel The Super Over:
“I remember going to (Tabraiz) Shamsi’s room, and he (Virat) was there playing FIFA. So, I was playing against him in FIFA, and I beat him, and you know that meme where the guy like sits forward, Kohli sits forward and starting to get real into it. It lireally is just FIFA, but I guess when you are as competitive as he is, it’s hard to tune out. You want to win every game.”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli returned to action in India’s recently concluded three-match ODI series in England. He was previously ruled out of the home ODI series against Afghanistan last month due to a hamstring injury.
The ace batter was dismissed for five runs in the opening encounter against England. However, he made amends by slamming back-to-back half-centuries, recording scores of 65 and 74. England completed a 2-1 series victory over the Shubman Gill-led Indian side.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh emphasized that India would need the experience of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He opined that the team management must give them security leading up to the showpiece event.
Yuvraj told Star Sports during the ODI series decider between India and England (via NDTV):
“It’s up to the management who they want to stick with. Ideally, you need experience in the team. You can’t just go with young guys, or you just can’t go with only experience in the team. You have to match it. And I believe that if they have to play the World Cup, they have to be secured now.
“The media is always going to bring up the moment they don’t perform, age and form, and all this is going to come. Whatever noise is outside, let it be outside,” he added.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s next assignment will be a three-match home ODI series against West Indies. The series kicks off on September 27 at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
