Dustin Poirier recently opened up about losing a major sponsorship after his drunk incident at an airport last month.
On June 21, Poirier was arrested at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on public intoxication charges. Camera footage released later showed an animated Poirier arguing with the airport staff before being handcuffed and led away. In a public statement, the Louisiana native admitted that he had been struggling with alcohol and vowed to continue working on himself.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Poirier revealed that the incident also resulted in Bud Light terminating a lucrative contract they had with him and said:
“They terminated my contract immediately… It’s all good, man. I don’t need that f**king poison in my life… It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars. But also, if I’m representing something [and] advertising something that I’m not going to be taking part in and promoting stuff, it is what it is.”

Daniel Cormier urges fans to have “some empathy” for Dustin Poirier
Daniel Cormier recently shared his thoughts on Dustin Poirier’s airport arrest and weighed in on the situation.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel (via @ChampRDS on X), the former two-division UFC champion said:
“That showed how hard it is for fighters to retire… This is a kid that had a tough upbringing. It’s hard not to get lost when you walk away from something that’s been so important.”
He added:
“I think we should have some empathy; people should be more careful to judge. Everybody loves Dustin. Dustin’s done some great things. We can’t forget the great work because of a mistake that he made. He’s not the only one. So many people struggle whenever that thing is gone.”
