Minecraft Long Horse mod is a horror mod that has become quite popular, specifically after the Verity mod. Like with Verity, this mod and concept began as an ARG video on YouTube, but the community quickly made an actual mod out of it. After it was made, the mod was also featured on the YouTuber’s official channel.

What does the Minecraft Long Horse mod offer?

The lore about Minecraft Long Horse starts when a YouTuber named LookOut2DD revisited a 10-year-old modpack that they created. Almost immediately, they notice that something odd is happening to the world. They also find a static pig with a saddle on it that drops a book with mysterious text after being killed.

Later on, the YouTuber discovers a disturbing horse-like creature with an extremely long and thin neck and wide eyes. This creature is the Long Horse. Once this creature is discovered for the first time, a timer will suddenly appear that will give the YouTuber a task to saddle the creature. The issue is that it will appear in random places. The task will be to always have a saddle and find the Long Horse before the timer runs out.

If you fail to do that in the limited time they are given, the creature will become extremely hostile and try to chase you. It is so powerful that it can even detect you through blocks and tear through layers of solid blocks like a drill of sorts. If you get into creative mode or enable cheats to get items to satisfy it, the creature will detect the cheats and will punish you with even more tasks.

Since this was an ARG video made with special effects and editing, there was no mod that the YouTuber could offer. Soon, a modder named PKFL created the mod that acted just like the original Long Horse made by LookOut2DD. This mod was later featured in the description of the YouTuber’s full movie of the ARG.

Though it is popularly known as the Minecraft Long Horse mod, it is named creepyhorse.jar on the CurseForge website. The mod is heavily inspired by the ARG video.

It has four different stages of escalation, supports multiplayer servers, includes random encounters without a task, hunts you even in creative and spectator modes, and much more.

How to download and install Minecraft Long Horse mod?

Here is a guide on downloading Minecraft Long Horse mod:

  1. Download and install Forge for 1.20.1.
  2. Head to CurseForge and search for the Long Horse mod.
  3. On the mod’s product page, find and download the mod file, which should be compatible with Forge 1.20.1.
  4. Copy and paste the mod files into the “mods” folder in the root game directory. For me, it’s C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.
  5. Open the title’s launcher and find the Forge 1.20.1 modded game version.
  6. Open the game, create a new world, and soon experience the terrifying creature.
