Conor McGregor once claimed that Terence Crawford turned down a $200 million opportunity to fight him. Now, during an appearance on All the Smoke Fight, Crawford has revealed why he didn’t take McGregor up on the offer and explained how he believes such a matchup would have played out.
For context, McGregor previously claimed that Turki Alalshikh and his team had attempted to put together a $200 million deal for a boxing match and an MMA fight between the two.
During his appearance on All the Smoke Fight, however, ‘Bud’ dismissed the claim, saying the only reason he turned down the offer was because it never existed. Reflecting on how hypothetical boxing and MMA fights with McGregor would have played out, Crawford said:
“[$200 million] That’s a lot of money. I would have beat his ass in the boxing ring, and I think in the cage it would have been 50/50.”

Discussing what his game plan against McGregor would have been inside the octagon, Crawford said:
“I would have tried to crack him. He was going to try to kick me like he just tried to do. I keep saying, man, he’s a kicker.”

McGregor, meanwhile, returned to the octagon after a five-year hiatus at UFC 329 but suffered a knee injury just seconds into the fight, prompting the referee to wave off the contest a little over a minute into the opening round.

Terence Crawford is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, but also has a wrestling background, making him a plausible candidate to transition to MMA. However, he has never been particularly interested in the idea.
During Crawford’s appearance on the Pound 4 Pound podcast, host Kamaru Usman floated the idea of a potential MMA fight between ‘Bud’ and Conor McGregor. Noting that the two were roughly the same size, Crawford hilariously pushed back, saying:
“No, no, none of that. Don’t kick me, man. Don’t kick me, Conor. Connor, don’t kick me.”
