Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs are two of the premier running backs in the NFL. Both players are headed to training camp with contractual clouds over their heads.

“I still think there’s obviously a lot of unresolved contractual issues,” said Schefter.

“Baker Mayfield, Vita Vea in Tampa. Like, there’s always a push on contracts too. So like it just there’s a certain rhythm. Things happen. Players retire. Contracts get resolved. Injuries like last week, Nick Scouten, the Panthers linebacker, the second round draft pick goes down with the torn ACL.
“That first practice of the whole summer-that’s awful, awful.”
Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs are eligible for bumper extensions. Both players are perennial Pro Bowlers and are looking at earning toward the $25 million-per-year mark. They are still on their initial four-year rookie contracts.
Robinson is on a four-year deal valued at $19.17 million with a $10.94 million signing bonus. Gibbs’ contract is four-year, $19.17 million with a $10.94 million signing bonus.
Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs gearing up for Year 4
The Atlanta Falcons selected Bijan Robinson with the eighth pick of the 2023 draft. Robinson was fresh off a stellar three-year collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns.
Robinson has taken the professional game by storm. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler, one-time first-team All-Pro selection, one-time second-team All-Pro selection and his 2,298 scrimmage yards in 2025 marked the most in Atlanta Falcons history.
The Detroit Lions selected Jahmyr Gibbs with the 12th pick in the 2023 draft. He starred for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Alabama Crimson Tide in an impressive three-year collegiate career.
Gibbs has proven to be an important part of Dan Campbell’s offense. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler, one-time rushing touchdowns co-leader and member of the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Robinson and Gibbs are poised to become the best-paid running backs in the league. They’ll be key to the Falcons and Lions’ chances of making deep postseason runs in 2026.
