Usman Nurmagomedov’s stock continues to rise after another stellar performance against Archie Colgan at PFL New York.
The cousin of the UFC legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Usman defended his PFL lightweight title with a first round knockout.
Many believed the 28-year-old is one of the best MMA fighters not on the UFC roster, and Ali Abdelaziz made a bold claim about Usman.
The former manager of Khabib claimed that Usman could easily stop Ilia Topuria. Abdelaziz currently manages many top stars such as Justin Gaethje and Islam Makhachev.

The manager also brought up Gaethje’s win over Topuria at UFC Freedom 250, and had this to say about Usman:
“I told everyone before that Justin Gaethje would beat Ilia Topuria. And I’m telling you today: Usman Nurmagomedov will stop Ilia Topuria within four rounds.”

Topuria came into his lightweight title fight against Gaethje undefeated in MMA. ‘El Matador’ was a two-division champion, but ‘The Highlight’ flipped the script and stopped Topuria after four rounds at UFC Freedom 250.
Usman is undefeated in his MMA career and holds a stellar record of 22 wins and 1 no contest.
Usman Nurmagomedov lauds Justin Gaethje
Should Usman Nurmagomedov move to the UFC, there is a chance he gets to fight the champion Justin Gaethje.
The American hasn’t confirmed his next outing after his win over Ilia Topuria, but he has earned the respect of Nurmagomedov.
Speaking to the press after his win at PFL New York, the Russian took shots at Jake Paul first:
“Like a promoter, he talk too much, of course. Like a fighter, he’s not a fighter. He’s not a fighter, he’s a YouTuber guy. He come from YouTube…a lot of money…if you want to see fighter, come to my gym.”
He was then asked about Paul’s comments on the PFL champion beating Gaethje, Nurmagomedov had this to say:
“When somebody doesn’t give the respect for Justin [Gaethje], this is not good. Justin Gaethje is a legend. Really happy he is champion right now. I wish all the best to Justin.”
