BREAKING: Shocking end to WWE World Heavyweight Title match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026

SummerSlam 2026 Night Two was headlined by a grudge match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The high-profile bout had a shocking finish.

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins wrote the final chapter of their lengthy, storied rivalry at The Biggest Party of the Summer. They locked horns in an emotion-filled World Heavyweight Championship match.

Seth Rollins played mind games with the OTC during their title match, referencing their history as teammates in The Shield. However, Reigns didn’t let the psychological warfare affect his chances of winning the contest. Both superstars also paid homage to their former stablemate, Dean Ambrose (aka Jon Moxley), by performing his signature maneuvers.

At one point during the bout, when the match official was hurt, The Bloodline leader had the chance to take out Rollins with a steel chair and exact revenge. However, he ultimately chose not to use the foreign object.

In the end, Reigns delivered three consecutive Spears to The Visionary and pinned him to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. With the win, the OTC finally took down Rollins after failing to defeat him in several crucial matches over the years.

The outcome was shocking because Roman Reigns hadn’t defeated Seth Rollins at a premium live event in his illustrious career before SummerSlam 2026. Rollins came scarily close to emerging victorious, but he couldn’t get the job done.

Following the match, Reigns said he was always number one. The former Shield teammates also shared a heartfelt moment in the ring, seemingly choosing to mend fences after being at odds for years. It will be interesting to see what’s next for the duo in the post-SummerSlam 2026 season in WWE.
