BTS gave fans an unexpected comedic moment during the first day of their ARIRANG World Tour concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 1, 2026. A clip of the group’s member V trying to get the leader RM’s attention during the performance quickly went viral, with fans laughing at the spontaneous interaction.
The moment took place while BTS was performing NORMAL, a track from the group’s latest album ARIRANG. The ARIRANG World Tour featured a large 360-degree stage with multiple moving platforms. During the song, the members were required to stand at designated positions as different sections of the circular stage rose and descended in sequence, creating a wave-like visual effect.
RM (Kim Namjoon) was meant to stand between V and Jimin on one of the moving platforms. However, the BTS leader remained performing the song at the edge of the stage, away from his assigned spot, as the stage mechanism began.
Realizing RM had not moved into position, V (Kim Taehyung) repeatedly tried to catch his attention while continuing to perform. Without breaking the choreography or the song, he repeatedly called out “RM,” “Namjoon” and “Hey,” timing each call to the rhythm of the music. The way he blended the calls into the performance became one of the highlights of the viral clip for the fans.
When RM still did not notice him, the singer playfully removed the beanie he was wearing and tossed it toward the leader in another attempt to alert him. Even then, the rapper remained unaware for a few more moments.
RM eventually turned around, made eye contact with V, and immediately understood the situation. Taehyung quickly motioned for him to come over, prompting the leader to run across the stage and jump onto the already-elevated platform before rejoining the formation. The performance then continued without further interruption.
The interaction drew laughs from both the audience and the members. After completing his own part of the song, fellow member Jimin was seen pointing toward RM while laughing, adding to the lighthearted atmosphere inside the stadium.
As videos of the moment spread across social media, fans shared their amusement over V’s increasingly creative attempts to get RM’s attention. Many also joked that the singer managed to call out RM’s name in perfect rhythm with the song without missing a beat. One fan who shared a compilation of the interaction wrote,
“A full compilation of Taehyung trying to get Namjoon’s attention so he’d get on the rising stage cuz THIS IS HILARIOUS LMFAO”
Clips of the moment from various fans’s perspectives quickly gained traction online. Fans joked that V might have thrown his microphone next if RM still hadn’t noticed. Others pointed out that V appeared to call RM several times, even briefly missing his own part before smoothly recovering.
Other fans continued to joke about the incident, saying RM was so immersed in the performance that he completely missed his cue. Many also found Jimin’s laughter after the rapper finally reached his position just as amusing.
BTS mixes fan favorites and new songs during two-night MetLife Stadium stop
BTS performed on August 1 and 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. On both nights the group delivered a setlist of 23 songs that combined tracks from its latest album with fan-favorite releases spanning different eras of its career. As with previous stops on the tour, BTS also included a special surprise song segment that changed each night.
During the August 1 concert, the group performed Dis-ease from the 2020 album BE and Run from 2015 album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2. For the second night on August 2, BTS switched things up with Autumn Leaves, also from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2, and Go Go from the 2017 album Love Yourself: Her.
Following its two-night run at MetLife Stadium, BTS will continue the ARIRANG World Tour with back-to-back concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on August 5 and 6.
