Mercedes Moné has just gone through a major setback tonight at Grand Slam: Mexico. This may have implications for her world title match at All In, as her momentum has suddenly been disrupted.
The CEO had a shaky end to her run in 2025 as her long-time reign as the TBS Champion came to an end. Following her return two months ago, she has picked up where she left off, winning this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and earning a shot at the women’s world title at AEW All In: London. She will be taking on Willow Nightingale at the pay-per-view.
Mercedes Moné has made arrangements to ensure her win by aligning herself with Divine Dominion. They would be her insurance policy in the case that she has to deal with the Triangle of Madness. But with Willow dethroning Thekla at Redemption, things have changed. Fortunately, the new champion has found allies of her own in the Brawling Birds.
The two sides faced off in trios action tonight at Grand Slam: Mexico. This match featured six top women on the roster, resulting in a highly physical contest. At one point in the match, Mercedes Moné and Willow Nightingale went at it in the ring. After several exchanges full of counters, Willow was able to shockingly roll up Moné to score the win.
This was a statement win, as not only is this Mercedes’ first loss in 2026, but she was pinned by the very person she is challenging at AEW All In: London. Post-match, she was clearly shaken up by this and was visibly composing herself after this loss.
With roughly 25 days till the pay-per-view, Willow has all the momentum, but it remains to be seen if this will change in the coming weeks.
