“I’m not who I was 12 years ago”: Valkyrae responds to followers criticizing her for taking time without work from streaming

YouTube and Twitch star Rachell “Valkyrae” has responded to fans who criticized her for taking time off from livestreaming, saying that “she’s not who she was 12 years ago.” For context, X user @valkyhub’s recent social media post garnered significant traction, in which they expressed their displeasure with Valkyrae for not hosting a livestream.

They wrote:

“might get nuked for this but i disagree with valkyrae here. if ur not live on ur channel then ur not streaming, ur collabing on someone’s channel. there’s more adds, diff community, diff vibes, and a good chunk of ur audience prob has no idea ur there

On August 7, 2026, the co-owner of 100 Thieves addressed the controversy and opened up about “feeling really guilty” when she took a break from content creation to focus on other things.

While claiming that her viewers had “to let it go,” given that she has been livestreaming for 12 years, Valkyrae stated:

“I used to feel really guilty when I would take time off to do other things. But, guys, I’m turning 35 in January. Okay? I’ve been streaming for 12 years. Okay? We got to let it go. I’m not who I was 12 years ago. All right? Damn! I’m not going to stream 12 hours a day, every single day. Am I going to stream 12 hours today? Yeah, probably. I am probably going to do a 12-hour stream today. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to do a 12-hour stream every day! Okay?”

“I actually felt a little embarrassed” – Valkyrae uses an X user as an “example” and calls out “entitled” viewers

During the same livestream on August 7, 2026, Valkyrae addressed X user @Valkyhub’s aforementioned X post and called them out for their behavior. The Los Angeles-based personality claimed that she was using the netizen as an “example” and said:

“I’ve seen everything. All right? And I just want you to know: I did, unfortunately, have to block that account. Valkyhub, listen, I have to use you as an example. Okay? I have to use you as an example. All right? But listen, I can’t be having y’all acting like that. All right? I’ve been working. I’ve been doing cool things. Insane stuff is happening. Really cool ****! But I also took some days off.”

The Twitch streamer then commented on “entitled” viewers, saying that they shouldn’t watch her if they expect streams every day:

“I think some of you do act a smidge entitled to my time. I know. I saw the clip of Cinna reacting to it, and I hate that. I hate that! And I actually felt a little embarrassed. I felt a little embarrassed. Don’t watch me if you’re expecting streams every day. Okay?”

Valkyrae made headlines on July 28, 2026, when she spoke up after Steve Lacy shared a spoiler for Spider-Man: Brand New Day during an interview.
