Chad Gable has finally come full circle, winning the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Penta. Two of his goals came together, culminating in an ultimate victory at SummerSlam. Backstage, Gable was congratulated by everyone and embraced his former American Alpha partner Jason Jordan.
Chad has now opened up on his enduring bond with Jordan. During a recent SummerSlam Vlog, he shared that the two remain as close as ever, viewing each other like brothers. Chad noted that having his longtime partner among the first to wait for him in the Gorilla position was a perfect moment.
Thanks for the submission!
“Jason’s been there all along. He’s been there since the very beginning. And we have conversations that go so deep that people would be like, “What?” I mean, we just get lost in conversation about philosophy and life. We’re like brothers, man, so to have him there for that moment, to be one of the first people I see as I walk through (to Gorilla position), I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Chad Gable (18:19 onwards).
Gable is someone who has made the rounds throughout the main roster since his debut in 2016. However, Jordan’s career unfortunately ended after suffering a severe neck injury in 2018. This abruptly cut his career short at the age of 29. Following necessary surgery, he transitioned to a backstage role, where he currently serves as a lead WWE producer.
Chad Gable reflects on the tough times that brought him to success
On SummerSlam 2026 Sunday, Chad Gable finally conquered his long-standing demons by capturing his first singles title in WWE, the Intercontinental Championship. Appearing on the SummerSlam Post-Show, an emotional Gable admitted he could not contain his tears after achieving the milestone.
“I was a grown man, husband, father, and I found myself fighting back tears, and I couldn’t do it; I lost it. The tears were just flowing. It’s reminiscent. It just reminds you of everything. I don’t need to list all of it, but I mean, Shorty G, there was some low points, and you either stick with it and demand it of yourself that you’re gonna overcome it all, or you don’t, and I demanded it of myself, and that was so fulfilling,” Gable said. He reflected on the tough road to singles glory, including his embarrassing former ‘Shorty G’ gimmick. He mentioned how perseverance helped him overcome those lows and reach the mountain top he is now on.
