UFC GOAT contender pens three-word response to Conor McGregor’s post-ACL surgical procedure proclamation

Conor McGregor is drawing inspiration from sporting legends as he continues his recovery following surgery to repair his torn ACL and meniscus.

Now, one of those inspirations, Georges St-Pierre, has responded to the UFC star.

For context, McGregor injured his knee just seconds into his comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329, forcing the bout to be stopped a little over a minute into the opening round.

It was later confirmed that the Irishman had torn both his ACL and meniscus during the fight. ‘The Notorious’ recently underwent surgery to repair the injuries and has now begun his rehabilitation.

In a recent social media post, the former two-division champion named several sporting legends as inspirations for his recovery, including St-Pierre, widely regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time:

“Surgery was a success, and I’m on the road to recovery. That should tell you all you need to know about my mindset… I wanna give a shout out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs… [He’s now] doing backflips and his movement is still stellar… In another sport, the NFL, Tom Brady done it… These are my motivations here, especially the fighting boys… Unstoppable, baby. My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable.”

Responding to the post on X, St-Pierre wrote:

“Let’s go Conor.”

McGregor reportedly has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract and has stated his intention to return and fight out his contract once he recovers from his injury.

Islam Makhachev’s reaction to Conor McGregor’s injury

Team Khabib Nurmagomedov mainstay Islam Makhachev has no love for Conor McGregor. However, the reigning welterweight champion couldn’t help but feel bad for the Irishman after the anticlimactic end to his UFC 329 return.

During a media interaction in July, the Dagestani claimed that he felt bad for McGregor and wanted to see how ‘The Notorious’ would perform against Max Holloway after his five-year hiatus from the sport:

“Honestly, I felt bad, you know. I knew Max was gonna beat him, but not fast like this, the first minute. I wanted to see how he would fight after the five years. And honestly, felt bad when [the injury] happened.”
