Exclusive: Border Hawk Reported
An illegal alien has been sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to immigration and identity crimes that enabled him to vote in U.S. elections.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just provided Border Hawk with details about the case against Carlos Felipe Jaramillo Grajales, a 55-year-old citizen of Colombia who has lived in the U.S. for decades.
Jaramillo Grajales entered the U.S. at an unknown location and date before obtaining a driver’s license using the name of an American citizen in 2003.
“He then used the driver’s license, along with a Puerto Rican birth certificate in the name of the same citizen to apply for a U.S. passport, which was issued to him.” Border Hawk reported.
In 2010, Jaramillo Grajales used his stolen identification to register to vote in Florida. He claimed to be a US citizen who was born in Puerto Rico. After he received approval, he voted in numerous elections, including the 2020 Presidential election.
He eventually used his stolen identification to marry a woman who originally came into the US on a visitor’s visa in 2003. In 2017, she became a naturalized citizen and the couple divorced in 2020.
Jaramillo Grajales went back to Colombia in 2024. His former wife eventually went to Colombia to be with him.
He used his real identity to apply for a K-1 visa. After it was approved, they both moved back to the US and got remarried in 2025. He then applied for permanent residency.
After Homeland Security, the State Department and the Social Security Administration investigated Jaramillo Grajales, he was arrested.
He entered a guilty plea to aggravated identity theft, falsely claiming US citizenship to vote, making false statements on a US passport application, and falsely claiming a Social Security number.
He was sentenced to three years in a federal prison and then will be deported after his sentence is complete.
