Tarik Skubal has proven extra persona

The LA Dodgers added to their already stacked starting rotation by acquiring Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers ahead of the trade deadline.

Having won back-to-back AL Cy Young awards in 2024 and 2025, the southpaw is one of the best in the business, and this has been reflected in his performances. Two of his three appearances with his new team so far have been quality starts.

While the transition in terms of on-field performances has been near-seamless, fans may also be keen to know how the ace has been getting along with his new teammates.

On Thursday’s episode of “On Base,” fellow Dodgers star Mookie Betts offered insight on how Skubal has “become a part of the boys” in the Dodgers clubhouse behind the scenes.

“You know, coming over, that’s going to be tough,” Betts said (Timestamp: 21:37). “He’s spent six, seven years over there in Detroit. Now he’s come over and it took him a little bit. He was quiet for a little bit.”

“Now he’s showing way more personality. He’s hanging out, having fun. He’s really become a part of the boys and he’s added a really good element of team to the locker room.”

“It’s tough” – Tarik Skubal reveals emotional reaction after being traded to the Dodgers

On Aug. 7’s episode of the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Tarik Skubal revealed his immediate reaction after his move to the LA Dodgers was confirmed.

“Once the media gets out of there, you say bye to teammates. You know, a lot of those guys are my best friends, and it’s a bunch of men and I’m crying,” Skubal said (Timestamp: 0:00). “I hate crying. I don’t cry a lot.”

“When my wife walked down the aisle I didn’t cry because I was so nervous. And I’m crying in a clubhouse with a bunch of other grown men saying bye to people and giving everybody a hug. It’s tough.”
