Team India batter Dhruv Jurel had a brilliant outing on day two of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo. The visitors made 503/9 declared in their first innings, with Jurel being the highlight on the second day.
Dhruv Jurel got to his second Test hundred. Once he got past the three-figure mark, the batter cut loose and freed his arms, smashing two solid sixes to get the team over the 500-mark quickly. The first maximum came on the final ball of the 136th over of Asitha Fernando. It was a good-length delivery outside the off stump to which he played a lofted drive over long-on.
The next six came on the fourth ball of the 138th over, which was also bowled by Fernando. This time around, it was banged in short and targeted at the stumps. Jurel was quick to pick the length as he moved across and pulled it over deep backward square leg for another maximum.

Dhruv Jurel ended unbeaten on 115 off 177 balls. His innings included nine boundaries and two sixes that he smashed towards the end.
A record hundred from Dhruv Jurel in Colombo
Dhruv Jurel’s hundred in Colombo was a special one as he made two milestones courtesy of his stellar knock. He became only the second Indian batter to score a hundred from number seven or lower in Tests in Sri Lanka after Hardik Pandya, who had scored 108 runs during the Pallekele Test in 2017.
Jurel’s unbeaten 115 was also the fourth-highest score by a visiting batter from number seven or lower in Tests in Sri Lanka, and also the highest by an Indian in this category. His first Test hundred had come against the West Indies at Ahmedabad in 2025, where he made 125 runs off 210 balls.
From 12 games and 19 innings so far, Jurel has 651 runs at an average of 40.68 with two hundreds and as many half-centuries. His crucial ton in the first innings here in Colombo helped India stay on top of this contest.
