Maria Sharapova appeared in a red bikini and donned different swimsuits during her vacation at the ultra-luxury resort Amanvari, located on Baja California Sur’s East Cape in Mexico. The five-time Grand Slam champion shared several glimpses of her outing through images and clips that she captured during her stay.
The former tennis pro took to Instagram to share the experiences she savoured with her fans. Sharapova’s post began with an image of her relaxing in a red swimsuit near a beach and she captioned it:
Thanks for the submission!
“I can’t remember the last time I packed a carry on without a ‘business casual’ wardrobe or a wide variety of toddler snacks. A little girl’s getaway and sneak peek of the new and pretty spectacular.”
With each swipe to the left, the post shifted to the location’s serene beauty, a sneak peek into her gym session, her swimming pool outings and the diet she consumed.
Before her recent trip to Mexico, Maria Sharapova went to Italy with her fiancé, Alexander Gilkes, in June. The 39-year-old revelled in the natural landscape of the Dolomites, the Italian Alps and the summer.
Here’s why Maria Sharapova chooses to stay away from tennis
During her playing days, Maria Sharapova was a force to be reckoned with. Her career suffered severely from a chronic shoulder injury. On February 26, 2020, Sharapova couldn’t continue anymore and pulled the curtain down on her career at 32.
Years after playing her last match, the former World No. 1 opened up about her life after tennis. During a conversation with Oscar-winning actress Zoe Saldana, she candidly spoke about losing the fire to play unless she feels at her best.
“I love the sport. I watch it. I would hope I’d have more time but there’s something in your life where you feel like you’ve been so so good at it in your past and whether it’s because you no longer do it or because your body doesn’t have that tension, you can no longer feel what it feels like to be the very best at it,” she said during an appearance on her Pretty Tough with Maria Sharapova podcast.
“Why be lower than the best when I can do other things in my life that I can grow in. Even though it’s like the best workout and brings back so many memories. The speed is not there. My reflexes are not the same,” she added.
Since her retirement, Sharapova has built a strong portfolio through her business ventures, investing in and advising prominent wellness, tech, and lifestyle brands.
