The rivalry between Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano is about to enter its most volatile chapter.
The two AAA stars are scheduled to meet at AAA Ola de Calor for a contract signing ahead of their highly anticipated AAA Mega Championship match at TripleMania 34. The segment will be moderated by AAA General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, adding another layer of intrigue to an already heated rivalry.
Thanks for the submission!
Dominik Mysterio currently holds the AAA Mega Championship, while El Grande Americano has emerged as one of his biggest threats. Their story has already included alliances, betrayals and physical confrontations, making it difficult to imagine a contract signing ending without chaos.
With TripleMania 34 just around the corner, here are five things fans can expect when Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano finally sit down to make their title match official.
#5. Verbal jabs between Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano
Fans should expect a verbal confrontation between the two competitors. Dominik Mysterio has developed a reputation for being one of the most arrogant personalities both in AAA and WWE. He has repeatedly presented himself as one of the promotion’s top stars, and that attitude has made him an easy target for El Grande Americano.
Americano, meanwhile, has questioned Dominik’s status and connection to lucha libre. Their rivalry has become more personal in recent weeks, and the two have already shown that they have little interest in keeping things civil.
A contract signing gives both wrestlers a microphone and platform to explain why they believe they deserve to leave TripleMania 34 with the AAA Mega Championship.
#4. The AAA Mega Championship becoming the center of attention
The contract signing is ultimately about one thing: the AAA Mega Championship. Dominik Mysterio has held the title since defeating El Hijo del Vikingo in 2025, and the championship has become an important part of AAA’s identity. El Grande Americano now has the opportunity to take it away at the biggest event on the AAA calendar.
That gives the contract signing a bigger purpose than simply promoting another match. That said, expect both wrestlers to make it clear why the AAA Mega Championship belongs around their waist.
For Dom, retaining the world title would reinforce his position as one of AAA’s biggest stars. For El Grande Americano, winning the championship could represent a major breakthrough and establish him as the new face of the promotion.
#3. Rey Mysterio struggles to keep the peace
Having Rey Mysterio present at the signing is an interesting move. Rey isn’t another AAA official; he is Dominik Mysterio’s dad and one of the most respected luchadores in history. That creates an obvious conflict of interest, particularly if Dom believes his so-called deadbeat dad is favoring Americano.
Rey has already been forced to intervene when tensions between two competitors boiled over. On Aug. 15, a confrontation between Dominik and El Grande Americano turned physical, with Rey stepping in to separate them.
That history makes it difficult to imagine Rey simply sitting between them while they peacefully sign the contract. His presence could make the segment more unpredictable.
#2. AAA could add another twist before TripleMania 34
TripleMania 34 is shaping up to be a major event for AAA, with the show taking place across two nights. Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano is scheduled for Night 2 in Mexico City on Sept. 13. That gives the promotion plenty of time to add another layer to the storyline.
Omos, Dorian Roldán, and other personalities have already been involved in the wider AAA story surrounding Dominik Mysterio. There is also the possibility that Rey Mysterio becomes more deeply involved if the relationship between father and son continues to deteriorate.
The contract signing could therefore establish more than just a championship match. It could set up an additional stipulation, an outside threat, or even another major confrontation before this year’s TripleMania.
#1. It ends in a brawl
If there is one thing wrestling fans learned from contract signings, it is that they are rarely peaceful.
Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano have already shown that they are willing to get physical outside of an official match. Their previous confrontation resulted in a chaotic brawl, so another fight breaking out at Ola de Calor would hardly be surprising.
The most obvious scenario would see both men sign the contract before exchanging insults and eventually coming to blows. AAA could also use the segment to establish one wrestler as the more dangerous competitor heading to TripleMania 34. A surprise attack, table spot, or security intervention would immediately raise the stakes for their eventual championship match. In other words, fans should probably not expect the table to survive.
