The rebuilding of diplomatic and commercial ties between the US and Russia is ongoing, despite European objections.
The Asheville, North Carolina, meeting of G20 finance ministers kicked off with a surprise and a wave of complaints by Euro-Globalists present.
Yesterday (31), the US welcomed Russia back to a meeting of G20 countries for the first time since 2022, to the unpleasant surprise of European officials and the MSM.

Reuters reported:
“As U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent opened the meeting, some ministers were surprised and dismayed to see Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov sitting at the G20 table, the first time they had attended the forum in person since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski told Reuters he was unhappy to see Russia represented, although he recognized the right of G20 hosts to invite guests.”

Bessent and Siluanov also held a bilateral meeting on financial cooperation.
Bessent reportedly told Siluanov that ‘economic relief’ for Russia or further agreements were only possible once the Ukraine war ends.
“The Treasury also took the unusual step of inviting private-sector luminaries to participate in some of the G20 sessions on promoting stronger growth, reflecting the Trump administration’s view that growth was best served by deregulation, producing more energy and fostering innovation.
Bessent told one of the sessions that global growth had underperformed its potential for too long and that causes can no longer include ‘policy failures of our own making’.”

Politico reported:
“‘Secretary Bessent had a productive meeting with the Russian finance minister’, Erin Browne, Treasury’s undersecretary for international affairs, told POLITICO. Bessent ‘conveyed to him that the war needs to end, and we want to see a peaceful outcome’, she said.
A Treasury spokesperson said the two discussed ‘Trump’s plan for peace and economic growth’.
Browne said Russia’s inclusion was a decision made by the White House. ‘We are following the White House’s protocol’, she said.
Asked by reporters Monday about Russia’s inclusion in the gathering, Trump defended the decision. ‘We like getting along with everybody’, he told reporters. ‘One of the reasons that I’m so successful — that I get along with everybody’.”
