WWE NXT Heatwave this Sunday changed the landscape of the developmental brand. Every title that was on the line changed hands, and NXT now has a set of new champions. The main event of the show had NXT Championship implications, with the main roster star who’s back on the Black and Silver brand winning the title. The star, who was recently on RAW and years ago on SmackDown, clarified that he’s not coming back there until he feels like it.
The star in question here is reigning NXT Champion Grayson Waller. The 36-year-old began his promo on the latest episode, targeting the crowd in the Performance Center, who didn’t think he could win. He clarified how winning this NXT Championship means more to him than winning those SmackDown Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 40.
Thanks for the submission!
Grayson only had to thank one person for this achievement of his: himself. He is now getting calls from the people who used to not answer his calls, which he clarified were the SmackDown and RAW GMs. However, the Aussie Icon is now in a place where he is not picking up those calls, saying he’ll talk to Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce only when he’s ready to do so.
WWE’s former tag team New Day also won titles this Sunday
Grayson Waller, who was associated with WWE’s The New Day but never really became a part of it, is now a singles champion.
On the other hand, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who formed the New Day tag team, also hold gold, but not in WWE. Kingston, now only going by the name Kofi, and Woods, by his real name, Austin Creed, are two-thirds of the World Trios Championship in AEW.
Kofi and Austin made their debut at AEW All In 2026 this Sunday, just hours before Waller won the NXT Championship. The former New Day are called New Level in AEW and are currently paired with Swerve Strickland in their trios run. However, they would also remain in tag team contention, eyeing the AEW Tag Team Championships currently held by Cage and Cope.
