Chelsea Green reveals daring thought she tried to push for WWE Royal Rumble

Chelsea Green has revealed the bold idea she tried to push for the WWE Royal Rumble winner. The winner of the annual battle royal extravaganza usually goes on to challenge a world champion of their choice at WrestleMania.

The choice is between one of the world titles on the main roster, though there have been rare exceptions. Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green recently revealed that she had a bold idea for the Royal Rumble winner going a different route.

In an interview with INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, she talked about adding prestige to the Women’s US Title. Being the inaugural champion, she had a few ideas on how to go about it.

The Hot Mess said she pitched a Hair vs. Hair match against Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 41 and 42, but it never got through. Green said all she wanted was to make the US Title special and then said she pushed the idea of the Royal Rumble winner considering going after the US or Intercontinental titles.

“I really wanted people to enter the Rumble, and when they win, possibly challenge the US Title holder, not just the big daddy of it all. Why can’t the IC and the US title be a part of that conversation? So I was just really trying to push for that,” she said.

The SmackDown Superstar said she wanted to elevate the championship so it was not considered beneath the top titles. However, the idea didn’t go through.

“I was trying to push to elevate that title. I was trying to push to have people care about it, to not have it be second best and all that. I wasn’t able to do it,” she added.

Chelsea Green shares details of her orbital bone injury

During the conversation on INSIGHT, Chelsea Green also talked about suffering an orbital injury days after winning the Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

She was injured during a tag team match on SmackDown, and it left her fearing the worst. Green said at first she thought she had hurt her cheekbone and didn’t realize her orbital bone was broken.

The 35-year-old star said in that moment her entire career flashed before her eyes, and even Rhea Ripley, out injured, flashed before her eyes. Though the injury cast doubt on her title reign, she got medically cleared to compete.
