The Trump administration has no clue what to do to lower gas prices, because the administration doesn’t know how to get out of the Iran war that it started.

For the first time in 42 days, the White House held a press briefing, and it has been the pattern of this entire administration: when things are going badly and Donald Trump needs a human shield, he sends out JD Vance.
Vance possesses the rare combination of arrogance, unlikability, ambition, and cluelessness that allows him to both think he is being elevated when Trump puts him out to take the fall, and ignorance of not knowing that with each one of these misadventures, he is taking a fresh step toward ending his political career.
VP Vance was asked at the press briefing, “ On July 2nd, Treasury Secretary Bessent, um, was asked when Americans could see $3 gas again, and he said maybe by Labor Day. Things haven’t worked out that way, but do you have a new timetable for Americans on when they could expect lower gas prices, and should they not expect to see $3 gas again until at least 2027?”
And this is where the trouble began.

Vance answered, “Well, in defense of Scott, he said maybe by Labor Day because we’re talking about things that are inherently unpredictable, and I, I think it’s important…You know, I’m a strong believer that, uh, the American people are our fellow citizens, and we should speak with them honestly about these things. And the fundamental reality is that the reason gas prices are so high right now is because the Iranians are shooting at commercial shipping.”
Labor Day is Monday, but things got much worse as Vance talked.
