Former NFL insider Dianna Russini is reportedly planning a return to sports media.
According to Front Office Sports’ Sept. 3 report, Russini is currently discussing several possible roles. They include working as an NFL insider or taking an on-air position. She is expected to decide on her next move soon as the 2026 NFL season gets underway.

Russini’s potential return news comes after The Athletic completed a nearly five-month internal investigation into the former senior NFL insider. The publication released its findings Sept. 3.
“Specifically, when it comes to The Athletic’s standards, Russini was noncompliant,” the report said. “We neither completed an investigation nor reached any conclusion about the nature of the full relationship between Vrabel and Russini, but the totality of the public photographs are enough to conclude a violation of company policy.”
The controversy began in early April, when Page Six published photos of Russini and New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel together at Ambiente, an adults-only luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona.
The photos showed Russini and Vrabel in several personal moments at the resort.
In one photo, the two were seen holding hands and interlocking their fingers while outside at sunset. Other photos showed them together in a hot tub.
At first, both Dianna Russini and Vrabel pushed back against the report. They described the photos as showing an “innocent interaction.”
They also said they were staying at the resort separately with their own friends and were spending time together as part of a larger group of six.
Dianna Russini’s possible comeback also received a public signal of support in late August. Fantasy sports analyst Matthew Berry indicated that the door could be open for Russini to potentially join Fantasy Life.
Mike Vrabel addresses Dianna Russini review ahead of Week 1
Mike Vrabel has no plans to revisit the controversy surrounding The Athletic’s internal review of former NFL insider Dianna Russini.
Vrabel was asked about the review during his scheduled press conference on Sept. 3, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
“No, I don’t have any reaction. We’re moved on and focused on Seattle and focused on the Patriots and focused on getting better this week,” he said.
The Patriots will open their 2026 NFL regular season on Sept. 9, against the Seattle Seahawks.
The game will be played in Seattle and is a rematch of Super Bowl LX.
The game will also mark the start of Vrabel’s second season as the Patriots’ head coach.
Vrabel was hired on Jan. 13, 2025, becoming the 16th head coach in Patriots history after the team parted ways with Jerod Mayo.
In his first season, Vrabel helped the Patriots make a major turnaround. After going 4-13 in 2024, New England finished the 2025 regular season with a 14-3 record. The team also won the AFC East and the AFC Championship.
Vrabel’s strong first season earned him the AP NFL Coach of the Year award.
