“Begging for money”: xQc calls out streamers and explains why he’ll by no means do a subathon

Popular Twitch and Kick streamer Felix “xQc” recently shared his thoughts on subathons and explained why he has never done one. While discussing the trend, he criticized the way some streamers use subathons to make as much money as possible, calling the idea “begging for money”.

For context, a 54-second clip from xQc’s September 3rd stream went viral on X. The clip was taken from a segment where he answered some of the most searched questions about himself on Google alongside his dad, including questions about his net worth, music preferences, and more. One of the questions asked, “Has xQc ever done a subathon?”

Reacting to the question, Felix described the topic as a weird one and explained how subathons were used by streamers in the past. He noted that there were fewer subscribers back then, meaning streamers had fewer opportunities to make money through subscriptions. According to xQc, some streamers would therefore hold a subathon for a few days to earn enough money to support themselves for the following weeks or even months.

He said:

“Way back in the day, like ages ago, people wouldn’t have to beg for money, right? Or whatever, because there were fewer subs back then, right? Fewer subscribers overall, and no Twitch subscribers. So people didn’t like begging for money because it’s lame, let’s be honest. Begging for money is lame. So they would do one subathon, right? And it would last for, like, two or three days, right? And then they would have a good amount of money for the rest of the month, right? Even for months on end. So they were, like, good on money.”

The popular personality then explained that the purpose of subathons has changed significantly over the years. While streamers previously used them as a way to make enough money to get through the following weeks or months, he claimed that many now use them primarily to maximize their earnings.

He added:

“But these days, nobody does that for that. Nowadays, subathons are, like, just a way to get, like, the most money possible. Another way to survive is just a way to, like, build some stacks. But it’s, like, this guy’s, in a way, like, “Guys, support me,” whatever, but their support… I mean, they have it in the bank, you know?”

xQc reveals he met Trump, says “He was very polite”

Another clip from the same stream also went viral, showing Felix answering another question from the Google search board: “Has xQc met Trump?” The streamer and his dad confirmed that he had met former US President Donald Trump in August 2024, with Felix recalling that Trump was polite and welcoming during their interaction. He also claimed that Trump spent more time with him than he had expected despite being busy.

Felix said:

“He was very polite, and he was very welcoming, too. Yeah, and he spent more time than he had to. And I knew he was busy.”
