Will Ospreay won the AEW World Championship by dethroning Kenny Omega at All In: London. Although he is signed to All Elite Wrestling, he is still a member of the NJPW faction United Empire. Interestingly, the group’s current leader, Callum Newman, is upset with them. They recently lashed out at each other on X.
Will Ospreay announced a few days back on Dynamite that he will form his own version of United Empire in AEW. The Aerial Assassin will team up with Fancesco Akira and Andrade and lock horns with the Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, Pac, and Gabe Kidd. Newman was furious that this factionmate, Akira, is allying with Ospreay and assumed that he would eventually join United Empire USA.
“Akira, you went off to AEW without saying a word to me. It would’ve been great to have you on this tour. Now I know exactly where your loyalties lie. Who’s going to jump ship next to join that asshole Billy [Ospreay] and the rest of the old crew?” said the NJPW star.
The AEW World Champion felt that Newman was overreacting and told him that it was not a turf war.
“How is this a thing? Your guys are my guys. My guys are your guys You’re making it sound like it’s a turf war, when really we are spreading a faction that I started across multiple promotions. Don’t hold back progress little bro. You won’t like the outcome,” he wrote.
The disagreement escalated, and Ospreay called the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion a c*nt.
Ospreay and Newman’s rivalry is heating up, and it seems like they will lock horns soon. Hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later.
Will Ospreay is bringing United Empire to AEW
Earlier this month on Dynamite, Will Ospreay revealed that he will form his own United Empire in All Elite Wrestling.
“So they have United Empire in Japan and that’s fine. I would like to create some opportunities here in AEW. So I’m going to start looking and I’m going to bring United Empire to AEW,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Aerial Assassin. Hopefully, his World Title reign will be lengthy.
