Ric Flair has just made a major revelation regarding a popular WWE Hall of Famer. He has disclosed some previously unknown information about their married life.
The Nature Boy is known for his run in several major promotions, where he became a 16-time world champion. This feat has been unmatched for years and only came to an end after John Cena won his 17th world title last year. He has been retired since 2022 and was most recently spotted in AEW, as he was by Sting’s side during his retirement tour.
Ric Flair was recently interviewed by Roman Sharf on the Dual Time podcast. He spoke about Sting, who was someone who he had spent a lot of years in the industry with. He revealed that while their social lives were contrasting, they were both married four times.
“Sting. Okay. Yeah. He was, you know, total moderation. [Sting] and I were married to each other from ’77 to, like, I think our last match was like in ’93, and we had nothing in common socially. I mean, I wrestled him, we made a lot of money and spent hours — hour-long matches, long, long — boom. But he was real quiet on the outside. Me, not so much. But he’s been married four times too.”
This comes as a surprise, as it is only publicly known that The Icon was married two times. Ric Flair did not wish to paint him in a negative light, as he knew that being married to a wrestler was difficult.
“No, but I mean, it is just hard to be married to a wrestler. I never wore my wedding ring. ‘Why aren’t you wearing your wedding ring?’ I said, ‘I’m trying to sell wrestling and tickets. Can’t have the girls thinking I’m married.’ ‘Why not?’ Doesn’t work like that. Promoter told me not to wear it.” [H/T RSN]
Ric Flair clarifies he is still with AEW
In a recent Instagram post, Ric Flair spoke about his current status, as he has not appeared in AEW for some time now. He clarified that despite speculation online, he was still with the promotion and not with WWE.
He called out those on the internet spreading baseless rumors. Despite having a good relationship with the Stamford-based promotion, he was currently signed to AEW. The veteran claimed that he had full respect and loyalty to Tony Khan and his company, as they allowed him to pursue all his projects.
“I Am Seeing All The Rumors Online About Me Being Back With @WWE. Number One, It Is Disrespectful. Number Two, It Is Not True. I Have Always Been Friends With Hunter. Nothing Has Changed With Our Friendship. We Both Have Mutual Respect For Each Other. My Daughter @charlottewwe Works For WWE, And I Cheer Her On In The Company. I Am Unable To Work For WWE, Because I Work For @AEW And @tonyrkhan,” Flair wrote.
Ric Flair has been making sporadic appearances for AEW. He appeared for a tribute show for Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael last year, but has not been seen in any capacity since. Seeing as he is still signed, could Tony Khan end up utilizing him in some way?
